We drove to Lake Charles, LA and using the Campendium app, which we have used to plan the whole trip, we found a beautiful little county park (Parish) Campground in Lake Charles, LA. on Bayou Serpent.

The campground is very clean and we had another nearly private stay.

The campground hosts were quite friendly and have lived in Lake Charles all their lives. They told us about another County campground about 20 miles away, called Intercoastal Park in Sulphur, LA. We booked a 2 night stay there right on the water where you can watch barges go out to the gulf of your choosing.
Yesterday we stopped for some culinary treats of the area, Cracklin’s and Boudin. Neither one of us cared for Cracklin’s, which tasted a lot like burnt, crisp bacon. The boudin is a sausage in natural pig casing. You can eat the casing or not. Neither of us did. It is stuffed with a mixture of cooked pork with vegetables, rice and spices. You can eat it on crackers, which we discovered later. I found it very rich and was unimpressed. Adele on the other hand liked it.
Today’s plan is to eat some gator and move to our new site.

Really… gator?
Think it will taste like chicken? 😁
It is very nice and peaceful looking. Tell us about eating ‘gator.
Yeah, I expected people to say it tasted like chicken, so I didn’t ask. I had to try it. It was good, served hot. I’m not sure I would’ve liked it had it been lukewarm. It had a very slight chewy consistency. I can imagine if it wasn’t cooked right it might be very chewy. 🤮 I liked it. But then again, it was breaded and fried. What exactly was it that I liked?
