Saturday morning we left the Walmart “campground” in Las Cruces and headed to Tucson to celebrate Easter with family. We thought we’d have smooth travel, but once again we ran into dust storms, although the wind gusts were not as bad as the previous day.
We got to Mary Jo and Tom’s around 2:30 and relaxed on their patio while Tom entertained us with stories. I could listen forever, cause some of those stories were about our family and the neighborhood. So fun.
Easter Sunday we went to mass at a mission church so close to their house. The church probably accommodates 40 people normally, but folding chairs were put in the aisle to accommodate more.

We had a fabulous Easter dinner at nephew Sean and wife, Libby’s house. Nephew, Brian, was kind enough to act as chauffeur. Dinner was followed by a couple rounds of Mexican train. It was fun to have the chance to interact with my nephews and great nephew. (Geography makes that difficult.)
Because AZ is two hours behind our internal clocks, Tom and I were both up early Monday and ready to continue the adventure. While I was able to keep my tears at bay, it was sad leaving.
Tom was able to get a picture of the woodpecker who hangs out in their cactus before we left.
