Good Friday

We left Balmorhea State Park on Friday morning headed to City of Rocks, New Mexico. It was a beautiful, sunny morning for our 4+ hr drive.

About 3 hrs into the drive we received notices on our phones from the weather app.

Of course by the time we got the notice we were already aware of the dust storms because the sunny, blue sky in the distance was no longer visible. And the wind was incredible.

Since we needed to restock some groceries, we decided to pull over at the next grocery store.

I went into the grocery store while Tom looked at maps, weather, etc. I was thrilled when Tom found me in the grocery store and told me we were staying put. He said there was an RV friendly Walmart very close to the grocery store.

We were not the only “campers” in the Walmart lot. And there was a security car that patrolled the lot.

Oh I forgot to mention the town we were in: Las Cruces, NM. Perfect place for Good Friday.

The weather outlook for Saturday was better, with less wind. We just waited it out at Walmart with a few non-essential shopping trips.

  1. Those dust storms can cause multiple pile-ups, major accidents. Glad you were safe.
