We arrived at the gulf coast of Texas on a hazy day, which was a blessing because the sun seems very intense for our Yankee complexions.
We are on a barrier island at Galveston Bay, called Crystal Beach. People can drive and camp right on the beach for a $10 yearly pass.

We took a 3 mile walk on the beach. Traffic wasn’t bad.

Cruise ships, tanker ships, and shrimp boats are visible on the horizon right from our kitchen window.

The rising tide and overnight camping was a concern. We knew that the tide would rise about 16”, but judging how far up the beach it would come was difficult. We asked one fellow camper about the tide – turns out he only spoke French! So we stayed up for high tide at 9:30PM. The water was about 60 yards away. The next high tide was at 4:40AM. Adele was on watch then. The water was up 3” and about 30 yards away.

We woke up to rain and so we’ll pack up and head inland.

Quite the adventure for you two. Did you adopt a seagull as a pet?
He wanted to invite them in for dinner.
Nice view out your kitchen window.
Wow, that is a dream to camp on the beach.
Experiencing the rising tide is a little bit more than dipping your toes in the water. Nice story.
